Jimmy Johnson Essien known Professionally Jimmy D Psalmist was born on the 25th of August 1983 to the family of Dr./Mrs J. J. Essien in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
Jimmy D Psalmist is a graduate of Physics with honours from the University of Calabar, Nigeria.
He is married to Mary-Joy Jimmy and they are blessed with two children King-David and Alexis
MUSICAL CAREER
Writing music and leading worship for about 15 years, Jimmy D Psalmist is a popular name known by many around the world for writing some of the most sung songs in our time, such as Mighty Man of War, Consuming Fire, Indomitable, Name Above all Names, Great and Terrible and over 50 more which has become anthems in churches around the world. Jimmy is an award winning song writter, Vocalist/Recording Artist. He write songs by inspirations from the Holy spirit and real life experiences.
His writings and music has ministered to people all over the world bringing hope, inspiration, encouragement, healing and strengthening their faith. He has recorded 4 Albums and his next release which is an EP of six tracks recorded live during his concert (WAR-SHIP EXPERIENCE CONCERT) in May 2021 is scheduled to be released in Feb 2022. He still serve as an International Worship Leader serving at his church “Shepherds House Assembly International, Abuja” to date.
He has won many International awards including MARANATHA AWARDS AFRICA for best song of the year 2018 and 2020 from Kenya, SAUTI AWARDS USA for best song of the year 2018 and Inspirational Song of the year 2019 amongst many awards, he has received many nominations on many awards in different regions of the world.
With about 1billion (minutes) watch time, over 200 million views on his videos and over 633,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, he is one of the most streamed Gospel Artist in Africa.
His song Mighty Man of War which has over 68million views has been translated by many artist all over the world i different languages including French, Zulu, Ngoma and other languages.
He is followed by about 1million people in Facebook and over 100 thousand on Instagram having a demography of followers cutting across over 100 nations of the world
Jimmy has a great hunger and desire to see his music, writings and concerts inspire the church and nations all over the world to worship God and be healed, inspired, encouraged and their faith rises to a realm where they can access the reality of the supernatural powers of God.
He has performed in many countries around the world including The UK, Europe, The Caribbean and many African countries.
