Tobi Amusan Set Record<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Tobi Amusan<\/strong><\/a><\/em> of Nigeria broke the world record in the women’s 100-meter hurdles Sunday with a time of 12.12 seconds, but the validity of the record has been called into question.<\/h3>\n

Amusan’s time, set in the semifinals at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, broke the old record of 12.20 by 0.08 seconds.<\/p>\n

Tobi Amusan<\/strong><\/a> entered the 2022 World Athletics Championships as a medal contender after back-to-back 4th place finishes.<\/p>\n

In the heats she ran an African record of 12.40s, bettering her old record by 0.01s.
\nIn the semifinal, she set a new world record of 12.12s.<\/p>\n

She bested her time once again in the final, running 12.06s (2.5m\/s wind assisted, thus not a legal WR), becoming the first Nigerian world champion at the World Athletics Championships.<\/p>\n
