{"id":52,"date":"2022-07-31T03:51:21","date_gmt":"2022-07-31T03:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nigeriaradiostations.com\/blog\/?p=52"},"modified":"2022-07-31T04:06:25","modified_gmt":"2022-07-31T04:06:25","slug":"63m-mega-transformers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nigeriaradiostations.com\/blog\/63m-mega-transformers\/","title":{"rendered":"\u20ac63m mega transformers to arrive Nigeria September \u2013 FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_53\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-53\" style=\"width: 1013px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nigeriaradiostations.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/mega-transformers.jpg\" alt=\"Minister of Power Abubakar Aliyu\" width=\"1013\" height=\"646\" class=\"size-full wp-image-53\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-53\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minister of Power Abubakar Aliyu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>The Federal Government on Saturday announced that the mega transformers it ordered under the Presidential Power Initiative had successfully undergone a factory acceptance test at Siemens\u2019 transformers factory in Trento, Italy.<\/h3>\n<p>It also announced that the \u201cfirst batch of the transformers is expected to arrive Nigeria in September 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson to the Minister of Power, Isa Sanusi, in a statement issued in Abuja, said the Managing Director, Federal Government of Nigeria Power Company, Kenny Anuwe, led Nigeria\u2019s delegation to the factory in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>He said the delegation, which had engineers from Transmission Company of Nigeria, witnessed the factory acceptance test conducted on July 28, 2022, in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe factory acceptance test paves the way for Siemens Energy to start delivering the transformers to Nigeria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that this was coming after the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, led a delegation to Germany in April where he paid visits to Siemens Energy factories in Berlin and Frankfurt.<\/p>\n<p>He said the minister also held meetings with the senior leadership of Siemens Energy on the need to fast-track the delivery of the early orders that would kickstart the transformation of Nigeria\u2019s electricity.<\/p>\n<p>The minister was quoted saying, \u201cThe successful factory acceptance test shows Nigeria\u2019s engagement with Siemens Energy is on track. It also shows the Federal Government\u2019s commitment to addressing Nigeria\u2019s electricity challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In December 2021, the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, and Aliyu secured the approval of the Federal Executive Council of \u20ac63m for the procurement of equipment to boost power supply under the Presidential Power Initiative.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the PPI is to provide 10 mobile power sub-stations and 10 mega transformers to be deployed across the country to boost and stabilise the electricity supply.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), initiated the Presidential Power Initiative to enable Siemens Energy to upgrade Nigeria\u2019s electricity systems.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase of the PPI seeks to modernise, rehabilitate and expand the national grid.<\/p>\n<p>It is to achieve this by investing in the electricity value chain, including generation, transmission, and distribution systems.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Credit: punchng.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government on Saturday announced that the mega transformers it ordered under the Presidential Power Initiative had successfully undergone a factory acceptance test at Siemens\u2019 transformers factory in Trento, Italy.
